Students Celebrate the Life of Professor Jack McWhorter
I created a piece for this group show, dedicated to the Life and Legacy of a previous professor who had since passed away. My piece is titled Dispersal.
Dispersal:
Dispersal refers to seed dispersal; the movement, spread, or transport of seeds away from the parent plant. Jack is the parent plant and we, those touched by his teachings and influence, are the seeds.
I created dispersal in the same style as my “Landscaped” series. They are a collection of mixed media paintings influenced by landscapes and other flora. The process I used in creating these pieces lends itself to the color and layering focus I was inspired by in Jack’s work.
Landscaped
This new collection of work features abstract, mixed media paintings influenced by landscapes and other flora. They utilize Watercolor, Acrylic, Pen, and Marker. There is, also, a common element of Collage using a variety of papers, with a primary use of Japanese Silkscreen Papers.
Lucid Spill
This set of paintings feature Acrylic Paint and an Acrylic medium, String Gel. Chance meets intention to create vibrant worlds of color, texture, and line.
Other Paintings
Paintings which were featured in various shows, commissioned, or created singularly as opposed to part of a specific collection.
